Compare and Contrast Excel Spreadsheets!

DiffEngineX is a utility that finds the differences between the formulae and constants contained in either two whole Excel workbooks or selected worksheets. It generates a cell-by-cell difference report in a new workbook and color highlights different cells in automatically-created copies of your workbooks.

As Excel spreadsheets get modified over time new rows and columns can be inserted between existing ones. DiffEngineX can align both similar rows and columns in the sheets being compared.

DiffEngineX includes many powerful features, like the ability to hide matching rows, group like changes to adjacent cells, and highlight differences at the character level. It can be used from its user interface or via command-line arguments.

DiffEngineX lets you:

Compare formulae & constants between workbooks or selected sheets.
Align rows and/or columns with similar content between sheets (minimizes spurious differences).
Compare numeric values to a user-specified number of decimal places. Useful for ignoring small fractional differences.
View a detailed difference report that gets automatically created in a new workbook.
Precisely highlight the parts of formulae and text constants that differ on the report e.g. =A1+Costs+6 and =A1+NewCosts+4.
Color-highlight differences at the whole cell level (separate colors for additions, deletions & modifications).
Hide matching rows enabling convenient discovery of widely separated differences.
Hide different rows, enabling only the identical ones to be revealed.
Compare formulae or their calculated values.
Can be run using command-line arguments in addition to its user interface.
Fast: Two 4Mb Excel workbooks can be compared in 30 seconds. Two 20Mb workbooks can be row aligned and compared in under 4 minutes.
