Icons, Icons, Icons!

There’s nothing quite like seeing your great program lose marketshare to one that you know isn’t as good, but that’s more attractive.

We’re probably as guilty as anyone of judging programs on how they look. But it is more enjoyable to use a good looking program, and it’s easier to use one where the graphics help us find the buttons we want, and tell us what the various buttons do.

Set 1: D-Icons: bright, fun looking icons, based on Windows XP appearance. They have bright white symbols on a colorful background that looks like light is shining directly on it. The background and the symbol both have a shadow.
Set 2: D-Icons2: While Windows XP-style icons look like the light is shining on them, the newer Vista style icons have a slightly different color pallete, and they look like light is reflected from them rather than shining on them. They also have a defined border, and the symbols are shaded rather than white.
